Hello to the trainee accountant and auditor that I met on the last train out of Manchester Oxford Road last night. He had been celebrating after completing his first 2 professional exam papers (Accounting and Auditing, I think). We had a good old chat about the trials and tribulations of the Big 4, but not forgetting the pride and privileges of being part of it all and the second-to-none training - Ok maybe we were getting a bit maudlin by then - but it was a long journey home!
2 thoughts arose from this serendipitous meeting: 1) I would really like to keep the appeal of this blog as broad as possible. It's not too mid-life is it? So accounting trainees, KPMG, E&Y and everyone else, do join the subscription list and let me know what you would like to see on this site. And 2) Dedicated to all student accountants as you approach your first 'busy' season. check out the Anonymous Accountant's reflections on student life in the Big 4 at www.audit.wordpress.com/. Remember: this is from across the pond and at least we get holidays in the UK, and the UK trainees do have half decent salaries!
